HELP needed
I am regularly contacted by people who are trying to trace family and friends in the village or neighbouring areas. This area is to hope that I can put people in touch with each other who have lost touch.
North Weald Village Life has been contacted by the North Weald Aircraft Museum for our assistance in helping a Dutch family trying to trace some photographs that are in their family collection.
The family concerned are relatives of Leo Verkolen, Leo was in North Weald in 1944-45. Leo stayed with families in North Weald and we have the following photographs of people and houses in North Weald and Epping. To date, the only informaiton gathered is that it is believed the Mock Tudor House was called St Jospehs, and it was in the High Raod and the other house was or is called The Mount. There are no clues as to who the school girl is.
A postcard is in possession which states Miss S O'Donnell as staying at St Josephs and that was from Mollie (holidaying in Whitney Bay in September 1944).
The name of John Eversen, North Weald, is thought to be the lad in the photographs. But the image of him does not appear to be very local .... but it may well be? Did Epping have a Cinema.
If you have any information, please email me and I will forward any information gathered to the family concerned.
